The Palm Beach Daily News, better-known as the Shiny Sheet, was supposed to be insulated from the economic downturn, ensconced as it is in the Palm Beach decadence and luxury described so artfully in Laurence Leamer’s latest book.

But word is coming that 11 people were laid off today at the tiny newspaper, including the top editor and one her top lieutenants. I am going to refrain from adding any names until I get confirmation, but this is coming from a reliable source.

I wrote a ditty recently on corruption allegations regarding Shiny Sheet gossip columnist Shannon Donnelly, you may recall (which originated from Leamer’s book research). Don’t like to see this happen, though, and will update as information comes in.
