Two New Year’s shindigs exist at the opposite ends of the Earth; think
a Party South Pole and a Party North Pole. One dedicates two-thirds of its
news release to talking about bottle service. The venue will
be swanky and ultrachic in a safari-themed kind of way. Pangaea
Lounge is partnering with its adjoining buddy venue, Gryphon Club, to
bring you something wild. So creatures on the prowl, uncage your
animal urges. Be as unpredictable as nature herself at “Deep in the
Heart of the Amazon… an Exotic Jungle Fantasy.”
Exotic entertainment
will be provided the whole night. One form of it will be an aerial
show. That should tell you about what kind of night you would have
here and how much money you should expect to spend. Tickets cost
$50 per person, which includes a champagne toast at midnight and
Perrier-Jouët party favors. For an additional $50 (so that’s a total
of $100), you can purchase unlimited visits to a premium open bar from
9 p.m. to midnight. DJ Victor Calderone will spin records in Gryphon,
and DJs Don P. and Vertigo will hold down the house in Pangaea. The
steamy jungle soiree starts at 9 p.m. at Gryphon and Pangaea (5707
Seminole Way, Hollywood). Visit gryphon-club.com or pangaea-lounge.com.

Now, let’s talk about Party South Pole, and let’s stroll to the
rooftop of the indie world of music venue 1921. Three bands will
perform on the roof; the only band confirmed at the time this is being
written is hardcore punk band Mute Issue. Actually, now circulating
the web, we see bands Travalonia and Manifest Test Subject will perform — this is just confirmed. After all, the best part of the indie
affair is the excitement of not knowing exact details until days
before the event, but because this party will be triple-hosted by the
Malcriado (a Miami-based alternative rock and funk band),
ftlcollective.com (our local indie blog), and Jams (the peeps who host
our indie dance parties), it will draw attention. On the flier, the
name of the event is “Epic! NYE Bash.” Playing records inside, near
the dance floor, until 4 a.m. will be DJs Esoteric, Damsk, Andie
Sweetswirl, and Mig. You must be 18 to party but of course 21 to
drink. Ten bucks will get you in the doors, and an additional $10
will get you “All U Can Drink Beer” until midnight. There will be a
special ball-drop viewing at midnight as well as a full liquor bar.
It’s cash only, and the doors open at 9 p.m. at 1921 (1921 S. Federal
Highway, Fort Lauderdale).

Fri., Dec. 31, 9 p.m., 2010
