The description “punkabilly” doesn’t quite sum ´em up. Th’ Legendary Shack Shakers is a proselytizing whirling dervish of in-your-face electrified swamp tunes, and that’s precisely why it’s loved. With relentless touring (about 200 shows per year), the band has converted the great unwashed into its own congregation of devout followers, but if you want to join in the action when LSS plays at Churchill’s (5501 NE Second Ave., Miami) on Saturday, there are a few things you should know. Singer/harmonica-blaster JoeBuck wants you to react, and if you don’t, he will incite a response. He’ll shoot his deepest nasal funk at you like a collagenous dart. He’ll rip out his own pubic hair and throw it on the crowd like party confetti. He’ll scare the hell out of ya’ (or into ya’).
@body:If you want the action without the thrill of finding a bevy of red curly hairs stuck to your shirt, stand in the back – or better – on the bar. Nervous about biohazard nostril contact? Wear a surgical mask. The benefits of a simple paper mask are multifold: (a) your orifices become impenetrable, (b) you project a “sterile and sassy” look that’s terribly en vogue, (c) people don’t fuck with madmen in masks. Now go ye into this great world and spread the gospel. Tickets cost $10. Check out supporting acts the Remnants, Van Orsdels, and Cheated Hearts; damnation begins at 9 p.m. Visit www.churchillspub.com.
