New Times‘ annual Pairings event is coming up fast. The food and wine gathering at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts takes place September 16 from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. And the list of participating restaurants this year is already huge.
On the docket so far are places like 3030 Ocean, Cafe Vico, Chef Allen’s, Coco Asian Bistro, Chima, and Bimini Boatyard, just to name a few. Each of them — plus a dozen or so more local eateries — will have their own booths located both in and outside of the swank Performing Arts Center, where they’ll serve food to all comers. To go with their custom-made dishes, the folks at Wine Watch in Fort
Lauderdale will choose menu-specific wine and beer pairings.
The price for unlimited food, drink, and good times? Just $40 per head
in advance, $50 at the door. VIP tickets, which include a special 6:30 p.m.
cocktail hour in the VIP lounge, cost $75.
Taking off my New Times cap for a moment, I can honestly say that last year’s
event
was a blast — the reasons
for which are fully detailed here. Next to similar tasting
events and festivals (we’re looking at you, SoBe
Wine & Food Fest), there’s really no comparing the value and
quality of the food and how well the thing is actually laid out. Plus, with all the local options, this year’s lineup (full
version listed here) looks even more exciting.
But we’d like to hear from you. What restaurant that’s not on our list would you like to see
the most at Pairings? Be sure to tell us why in the comments field below. Of course, our
editorial department doesn’t have control over what restaurants are signed up. But we promise we’ll do our best to get the most popular response on
the ticket.
