The victory lap for Guided by Voices — the indie-rock superstars who inspired many a Torche song — continues with the “classic lineup” announcing details of a new album, Let’s Go Eat the Factory.

As Mojo points out, this is the first recording featuring the assembled cast of Robert Pollard, Tobin Sprout, Greg Demos, Mitch Mitchell, and Kevin Fennell since 1996’s irreplaceable Under the Bushes Under the Stars. And, it’s the first GBV studio album of any kind since 2004’s Half Smiles of the Decomposed. But is this one coming out on Matador Records?

Although this lineup just wrapped up its live commitments and played a “final” show at the Hopscotch Music Festival in Raleigh, North Carolina, it’s impossible to think that the band wouldn’t want to tour some more and explode the 21 tracks on this release into the public consciousness, right? Right?!

Let’s Go Eat the Factory track listing:

The album is set for a January 1, 2012, release via an unknown label. Inquiries to Guided by Voices’ frequent home Matador Records have not yet been returned. According to a Matador rep, the album is “sadly” not going to be released through the label.
