On May 5, 1862, there was this battle in Puebla, Mexico, where the
Mexicans conquered the French. For all people who party, that outcome
was a triumph. Cinco de Mayo was born, and for some blessed unbeknownst reason, everyone celebrates it. So you, whoever you are, shall block-party Wednesday for the Mexicans.

At Rocco’s Tacos & Tequila Bar, both the West Palm Beach and Boca
Raton locations, there will be free tequila pourings. Prepare yourself: This isn’t shooting whatever tequila is behind the bar — at Rocco’s, you have 225 types of it. A live mariachi band will set the mood, but there will also be a DJ spinning. The owner of these joints, Rocco Mangel, will shuffle back and forth, wearing his famous white shoes. Fiesta hours are noon to 1 a.m. at the Rocco’s in Boca Raton (5250 Town Center Circle; 561-416-2131) and at Rocco’s in West Palm Beach (224 Clematis St.; 561-650-1001). No cover. Visit roccostacos.com.

MoQuila Restaurant and Tequila Bar will provide another blocked-off section to do nothing but make merry. There will be shot stations and
premixed margaritas on command, and your frozen favorites will still
be offered at the inside bar. Outside, extra tables will be set up for those who want to dine. A DJ will spin. The party runs from 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. at MoQuila (99 SE Mizner Blvd., Boca Raton). The happy-hour specials are from 3 to 5 p.m. — it’s three for one — but all night, the Coronas will be $3. No cover. Call 561-394-9990, or visit
moquila.com.
