Your favorite retro furniture store has become a Crate and Barrel; your secret vintage clothing hideaway is now a Starbucks. Doesn’t anyone respect the eclectic anymore? Actually, yes – and they’re waiting for you to join them at Divine Trash (7244 Biscayne Blvd., Miami) The Miami treasure trove is a haven for local artists, designers, and detail-driven consigners selling everything from refurbished furniture to internationally-labeled apparel. So you would think just shopping there would be the pinnacle retail experience, right? Actually, the boutique and its neighbors have transcended browsing from the extraordinary to the sublime by adding their newest event: Sunday afternoons in the garden.

Part garden party, part shopping spree, the event features music and complimentary wine as well as a meet and greet with many of the artists, so you can understand the inspiration behind your favorite, shiny, new trinket. Feeling mildly competitive? For a small pittance take a whack at artsy mini golf (local craftsmen donate pieces to add to its landscape, so you can try to ricochet off – say – a statue on hole five). And if all that browsing, strolling, and put-putting makes you peckish, Divine has you covered there as well. It has arranged for another of its fabulous neighbors, a little sushi shop, to create a special lunch menu just for you, famished little peruser. So support local artists, sip wine in a secret hideaway, and rediscover Miami’s fading deco elegance held in a timeless state of divinity.
