Labor Day, that couture mile marker, has come and gone, but we can still wear white. We live in the subtropics. But you might choose to leave the whites behind on November 16. That’s when the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens (4000 Morikami Park Rd., Delray Beach, 561-495-0233, ext. 210) will host the annual 101 Zinfandels event, cosponsored by the American Institute of Wine and Food and Zinfandel Advocates & Producers. From 4 till 8 p.m., 50 wineries will pour about 166 Zinfandels — not the sugary pink stuff (white zinfandel) but the spicy red variety that is becoming increasingly popular. Just to prove its case, 30 Florida restaurants, from the Keys all the way to Orlando, will also present pairings. If you’re not convinced that the $60 advance-ticket fee ($75 at the door) is worth it, be advised that Crown Wine & Spirits will take orders at the event for the vintages at a reduced price, making it that much more tempting to play Zinfandels by the numbers.
