The Times UK broke hearts while breaking the the news that Beyonce didn’t sing “The Star Spangled Banner” live at the 57th presidential inauguration.
A spokeswoman for the Marine Corp Band Kristen DuBois said it was standard procedure to record a backing track and Beyoncé decided shortly before her performance to rely on the studio version, rather than risk singing it live on the Capitol.
So Bey is a big old fake! And to think, former President Jimmy Carter admitted to being psyched to see her belt out the song live. For shame, Beyonce!

When she took her earpiece out like a bad ass, we thought, damn, this fantastic singing mama is going it alone. But, were we wrong.
Though lip-syching isn’t unusual in this situation and it’s not that Beyonce can’t sing the tune, it’s disappointing that she didn’t do it live. However, Kelly Clarkson sang her song in the freezing cold with the whole wide world watching, totally live.
We here at County Grind are big ol’ Kelly Clarkson fans. Everyone was dissing on the American Idol-winning songstress while drooling over Bey yesterday. But now we know who the diva supreme is. It’s Ms. Clarkson who sang “My Country Tis of Thee” without the help of a pre-recording.
