Vanilla Ice released his landmark hit “Ice Ice Baby” in 1990, which was when half-pint pop performer Matty B was approximately negative 13 years old. Now an eight-year-old, the young Mr. B hooks up with Robert Van Winkle himself on this song.
For the uninitiated, Matty B makes Justin Bieber look like an AARP member, and his voice is just a smidge lower than Alvin & the Chipmunks’ range. Although this is obviously not for everyone, recent Man v. Food Nation guest and South Florida resident Vanilla finds his schtick endearing enough, and looks inspired clowning around in the accompanying music video.
An important note: Matty B claims “This project was very unique because this is the first time Vanilla Ice
has rerecorded his hit song with anyone else and actually featured on
the track with them.” Maybe on a technicality this is true, but Vanilla did appear on British twins Jedward’s version of the song (and the accompanying video) last year. Dude is only eight, though, and giving him a hard time about it would be like hanging a piñata just out of his reach. Don’t let the Porsche he “drives” in the video fool you. [via Vulture]
