Hangin’ out with Dimebag.

Dissever’s been quietly making itself known in South Florida’s metal community for a while now and we here at New Times HQ have admittedly fallen asleep on our laurels when it comes to these guys. Last week we featured an MP3 review of their track “Fling” on our sister blog, Crossfade, where this quad turned in a progressive metal number that shone with hints of technicality and hardcore elements.

This week we have their track “Déjà Vu” for your downloadable
pleasure. Drummer ill13ill, bassist Rue, guitarist Brian and singer
Eddy this time around offer a tune that’s a little closer in execution
to the hard rock sound of the mid-’90s while retaining their edge with
some heavy breakdowns and solid string-work. Eddy’s vocals do a nice job
of soaring above the lofty feel of the track and the group transitions
well into the closing moments that echo a more scream-o aggression.

This song and “Fling” are from an upcoming effort I suggest you
keep your eyes out for, as well as any of their gigs around the
tricounty area. Live, they remind me of local greats Cynic and
Third Wish.
