So don’t be so surprised by the Pass, a four-piece from the city that relies on synths and dance beats instead of finger-picking and sad tales. The group has already built up a buzz in its hometown thanks to its very of-the-moment blend of indie, disco, pop, and the occasional four-four beat. The sound owes more than a little to acts like Phoenix, and thus lends itself well to its appearance this Thursday at the weekly dance party Flaunt.
