- Make room for another lucrative South Florida industry overrun with fraudsters: the time-share telemarketing business. For all their character flaws, these guys are creative about giving gifts to their girlfriends, like the dude who tried to torch the beauty salon because his girlfriend didn’t like the eyelash extensions. - If Roberto Settineri really is the Mafia intermediary between the Gambino family in New York and mobsters in Sicily, then he should have been smart enough to know what the rest of us did, that after Scott Rothstein returned from Morocco, he went to work as an informant for the feds. - Some who know Randy Tunidor Sr. say he’s a big sweetheart; others say he’s a bloodthirsty killer. Considering that Tunidor’s in jail awaiting trial for the murder this month of his landlord, Nova Professor Joseph Morrissey, the people who say he’s a villain make a more persuasive case. - The Heat lost Game 1 of its series against the Celtics, but there’s reason for optimism about Game 2 now that the league has suspended Kevin Garnett for his part in a brawl during Saturday’s game. [ESPN]
- A Wilton Manors police officer responding early this
morning to a home break-in at the Palm Gardens apartments shot the
suspected burglar. Still don’t know what caused him to fire and what the
burglar’s condition is. [CBS4] - A 53-year-old woman in Greenacres was shot early this morning in an apparent strong-arm robbery. Her injuries are not life-threatening. [WPBF-25]
